How
to repair your board:
Small nicks, slices, and delaminations in your board can usually be easily repaired using products we sell right here on the site. You can use either SpongeRez or a Hot Melt Glue Gun. I prefer the glue gun only because it dries within minutes. Here's what to do: 1. Be sure the repair area on the board is COMPLETELY dry and cleaned of sand/rocks/debris. Do this by standing the board so that the area you want to dry is at the top so water runs away from it. You can also speed things up by using a hair dryer, but if doing that, be very careful not to keep the hot air on the board for more than a few seconds at a time, or you could do more damage than good. 2. Once dry, if it's a nick or slash in the board, simply fill in the area with SpongeRez or hot glue and smooth the area with a putty knife or something flat, and let dry. 3. If it's a delaminated rail, nose or tail piece, pull back the delaminated piece, and apply SpongeRez or hot glue generously, and then push the pieces back together. If needed, put some sort of heavy weight on the affected area to keep them pressed together while the glue dries. In the case of SpongeRez, leave overnight. If using hot glue, expect the repair to be set within 5 minutes or so. 4. A bubble on the bottom or deck is a bit more complicated. I typically recommend leaving bubbles alone, but if you insist on repairing them, take a sharp blade and cut an "x" in the bubble and peel back the four corners. Tape them back or have someone hold them back for you while you apply glue to both the flaps and the area you cut them away from. Replace the corners and put some weight on the area to help it to stay flat as the glue dries. You can finish the job by applying glue to the slits and smoothing it over to "seal" it. *SUN DAMAGE- Do not under any circumstances leave your board in any hot place, including direct sunlight. It will warp, rocker out, and bubble your board! I like to get white bottoms on my boards as they repel sunlight. Medium colors are good for the deck as they don't reflect as much sun making them easier on your eyes.
