Viper V5 Surfing Swimfins
The V-5 has a 5" blade, and is designed to be an all-purpose fin for bodyboarding, bodysurfing, and lifeguarding. The vertical side rails are slanted down to a narrow tip. The V-5 has excellent acceleration, maneuverability, tracking, and burst speed. The V-5 Model features less blade surface than the V-7, allowing for shorter and quicker kicks.

Custom X bodyboard and Viper fins

I had them shipped all the way to Puerto Vallarta Mexico and really great support by you guys kept me informed of the shipping every step of the way.. I had my first session today with my new custom x bodyboard thanks Jay.. cheers..

vector flex 5

I've used Viper Fins for many years in surf from a few feet to double overhead. I've found the Viper yellow and orange dot model to be almost equal in their flex. However the new orange colored Vectors are another story.
First the Vectors plastic/rubber material has a nice smooth feel and is shaped identical to the original vipers. The lack of a top neoprene pad in the foot pocket makes them a little more roomy, but not as comfortable for me. I believe the lack of top pad is because the new material is very hard to glue to. I did finally glue pads in mine, however high quality neoprene glue (and a few others I tried) doesnât like to adhere to the material ever when scuffed up. This may be why the new Vectors donât have pads. The glue needs to be applied in one very heavy coat fast. The solvents in the glue seem to gas off faster than it can dissolve into the new fin material. It worked best when having a dry coat on the neoprene pad with a semi-dry/wet coat on the fin when you insert the pad into the fin. The neoprene keeps the glue from gassing off and forces the solvent into the fin during drying which helps the adhesion. Drying will take 1 hour to be stable but 24 hours to fully dry. Press the neoprene down a few times the first hour to make sure it stays in place.
The performance of the Vectors in chest to head high in Rincon PR for the Vectors was less than expected. I had to change my kick to more of a scuba fin kick; a little slower and deeper. The ability to get that instant explosive start I get from my Viper flex was not the same. An early start for getting up to speed is needed. Where I found the fins lost their pop was in up stroke in my kick. The fin over flexes in that direction and as such gets the feeling of a scuba fin. The down stroke feels close the V5 flex. The comfort in the water was great and the light weight and floatability was refreshingâ¦. My feet and legs never got the muscle cramp that was common with the Vipers. Steering with the Vectors was easier and about the same in control.
If you want new fins Iâd go with the yellow Vectors assuming they are stiffer and more like the viper V5 flex. The nicer material will be enjoyable and wear a pair of fin socks and youâll think you got slipper flippers on.

Note: if there was a 3.5 rating I'd would have checked it. (my vipers v5 get a 4)

Super comfy

I love these fins. I have size 12 feet and the XL's fit great with fin socks and are still super comfortable. Really wide foot pocket - I don't feel like I'm mashing my feet into them. They are maybe not the most powerful fin out there, but they still offer good thrust. Better than my Bluntcuts for sure
