Tribe Fiskr Freshie Bodyboard
"Fiskr" is Old Norse for "fish," and this baby is a unique addition to the Tribe lineup. When first designing the Fiskr, the intent was to create a board with wave pool and river riders in mind. A more flexible PE core to fit the curves of these kinds of waves, including two stringers to keep that PE core nice and springy, but still allow the board to bend into the contours of the wave or river flow. We beefed it up with a layer of mesh under the slick and made it a high-volume board to provide added buoyancy for freshwater riders.
We quickly realized this one would be a winner in the ocean as well, especially for those in cold-water locations that need buoyancy to offset the extra wetsuit weight, but also need the softer core to counteract the stiffness caused by frigid water temperatures. We added a thumb groove along the rail to enhance grip (especially helpful for glove wearers) and installed deck bulbs and a more durable, HDPE slick with QUAD channels to complete the package.
