Jay Reale's days as a pro bodyboarder may be behind him, but the Wolf is Jay's ultimate combo (prone or dropknee) shape, incorporating nearly five decades of bodyboarding experience into this all-around, all-water-temp, one-quiver board. Jay starts with a versatile rounded template. The 1.5pcf PP core works in concert with a Surlyn slick with graduated channels, slick mesh, and a Tension Tech mesh layer under the deck for just the right amount of flex. A 3/4-length carbon fiber stringer lets the nose flex slightly more, aiding in "scooping" and arcing high-speed cutbacks for prone riding. The defining feature, though, is the "Flip Tip" nose rocker Jay has used for years, which allows late drops when riding DK or driving off the bottom on slabbing shorebreak without nosediving. This is the board that does it all.

Jay says: "For 2026, I've modified my template slightly to lower the widepoint to make the board more conducive to high-speed turns on the open face. The board is still an absolute rocket for both prone and DK, but the lower widepoint just works for me!"

WHO IS THIS BOARD FOR?

Ideal Rider Profile

  • Riding Style: Prone, dropknee, or a combination of both.
  • Equipment Preference: Riders who want one board that does it all.
  • Conditions: An all-around, all-water-temp design.

Best Suited For

  • Riders who switch between prone and dropknee and want a one-quiver board.
  • Prone riders who like a bit of nose flex for scooping and arcing high-speed cutbacks.
  • DK riders who want late drops without nosediving.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?

1.5pcf PP Core: Works with the mesh and stringer for just the right amount of flex.

3/4-Length Carbon Fiber Stringer: Lets the nose flex slightly more for scooping and arcing prone turns.

Tension Tech Double Mesh: Mesh under both the deck and slick.

Surlyn Slick and Graduated Channels: A premium bottom with a graduated channel layout.

Flip Tip Nose Rocker: Jay's signature nose kick for late DK drops and driving off the bottom without nosediving.

2026 Template: Jay lowered the widepoint for high-speed turns on the open face.

Crescent Tail and Grip Features: A crescent tail, with hand bulbs and finger bulbs for grip.

HOW DOES IT COMPARE?

The Wolf and the Wolf Quad share the same construction and prone/DK focus. The key difference is the bottom: the Wolf has graduated channels, while the Wolf Quad has quad channels. For a dedicated DK board, see the Raven, with its 1.9pcf PP core and two carbon fiber stringers.
